Snoring and smoking – is there a connection?
Yeah, so you know that smoking is harmful. It affects your lungs, blood and could cause cancer. But did you know that if a person smokes they are generally more likely to snore? You are befuddled by how your snoring has anything to do with your smoking? Here is how the chain works - the potent chemicals found in cigarettes cause changes in the throat, particularly the lining tissue. When this tissue becomes agitated or aggravated, it affects the flow of air through the throat resulting in snoring. The obstruction of the air flow causes arrhythmic breathing which leads to snoring complications. If you are kicking yourself for not realizing that your snoring could have been caused by smoking, don’t! There are not too many people with such worldly awareness.
There are several similarities to the problems of smoking and snoring. Both of them are a function of the normalcy of breathing in the human body. Snoring doesn’t affect just the snorer and in fact disturbs the sleep of the people who are trying futilely to sleep near the snorer. Smoking in much the same way causes problems not just to the person who is smoking but also to the people near by who are forced to engage in passive smoking. Thus the sooner either of these stop, or in the best case, putting a stop to snoring and smoking together could have immense benefits on the quality of life that you lead and your health standards.
If you stop smoking, you will begin to have a positive impact on your health almost immediately. With more reserve energy to do more of the things that you love, you will also find that your breathing no longer proves to be as laborious as it used to be. It is this quantum change that can directly influence whether or not you snore. With an air passage that is not clogged with the chemicals from cigarettes, the flow of air is smooth.
Thus the key point to not is that If the throat tissues aren’t agitated, there is a high probability that the person will not tend to snore. Getting more sleep recharges your body, lets your muscles relax and gives you the capacity for greater energy usage so that you can get more out of the life that you lead. Think about this - If years have been spent struggling with the problem of snoring, then having that burden lifted can drastically change everything. From how well you do at your job to how great a relationship your marriage is.
So the moral is quite simple. Quit Smoking. Stop Snoring!!
